#### Server Description

Server Description Write a clear, compelling description of your server. This is one of the most important factors for discoverability.

* Formatting: You can use Markdown (Bold, italics, lists, links) to highlight what makes your server special!<br>

#### Vanity Link&#x20;

Claim a custom, memorable URL for your server listing (e.g., communityone.io/your-server-name). The system will check availability in real-time.

<figure><img src="/files/7pjf7hYoERXS8pwV7BaF" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

#### Language Settings

Select the **primary language(s)** your server uses. This determines which regions discover your server.

**Important:** If you select a language, your server will *only* appear in searches for that language.

**Example:**

* If your server is 50% Japanese and 50% English, select both languages
* If you only select Japanese, English-speaking users won't find you
* Choose languages that match your actual community

#### Server Type (Web3 & NSFW)

* Web3 Community: Mark this if your server focuses on crypto, NFTs, or Web3 technologies.
* NSFW Content: If your server contains NSFW content, you must mark it as such.
* *⚠️ Warning: If your server is NSFW and unmarked, our AI will automatically mark it during review.*

### 🏷️ Categories

#### Primary Category

Choose one primary category that best describes your server. You will show up when the user clicks on that category

<figure><img src="/files/bhkXHxScUkdpN2ramVzs" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

#### Secondary Categories

Create custom secondary categories specific to your server. Press **Enter** to add each one.

**Examples:**

* Valorant players
* Pixel art community
* Japanese learners
* Indie game dev

These help users find exactly what they're looking for and improve your discoverability.

### 🔍 Search & Discovery

#### Server Description (Most Important!)

Your description is the **#1 factor** in how users find you. When AI search launches, it will analyze your description to match users with relevant servers.

**Write for:**

* Clarity about what your server offers
* Keywords people might search for
* Your server's unique value

#### Tags & Content

Tags are considered in our ranking algorithm. As AI search improves, we'll introduce **secondary tag search** to give tags more weight in discovery.

**Current approach:** Mix detailed descriptions + relevant tags for best results

### 🔗 Social Links

Add your community's social presence to help users connect with you beyond Discord.

**Supported links:**

* Website/Portfolio
* Twitter/X
* YouTube
* Twitch
* Instagram
* TikTok
* Other social platforms

Users can click these links directly from your listing page.

### 📊 Analytics Visibility

#### Default View (Enabled)

By default, your listing shows public analytics including:

* 📈 Online members
* 👥 Total members
* 🔥 Daily active users
* 💬 Messages per user
* 🛡️ Active moderators

This transparency builds trust with potential members.

#### Private View (Disabled)

If you prefer privacy, **disable analytics visibility**. Instead of exact numbers, potential members will see:

* Ranges instead of exact counts
* General activity indicators
* No specific member data

**Toggle in:** Visibility Settings → Analytics Visibility

### 📢 Content Publishing Permissions

You have granular control over what live Discord content is synced to your public listing.

#### **📁 Forum Discussions Sync**

Allow visitors to preview your active forum threads and topics. This is an excellent way to showcase the quality of conversation and knowledge sharing in your community.

* Setup: Simply toggle "Show Forum Discussions" and select the specific forum channels you want to display.
* Contributor Privacy: You have the option to allow anonymous publishing, protecting the identities of the members who created the threads while still showing the content.
* Requirements: Our bot must be installed in your server to configure forum indexing and sync channels.

<figure><img src="/files/qUaakSYZoHDPl9ELZDUd" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

#### **📢 Announcement Channel Sync**

Let us automatically publish your server's announcements to your listing page, giving potential members a live view of your activity.

Setup Requirements Before we sync your announcement channel, it must meet these criteria:

* ✅ Channel must be announcement-focused: Used primarily for announcements, news, and updates. Not a general chat channel.
* ✅ Channel must be publicly viewable: Accessible to new members or the public. Internal staff channels are not allowed.
* ✅ Regular members must have read-only access: Members can view announcements but cannot write/post in the channel. Only mods/admins can post.

*Verification Timeline: We verify channels within 1 business day.*

How It Works Once approved, your selected announcement channel automatically syncs to your listing, showing potential members:

* Recent updates and news
* How actively you manage the server
* Real community activity

<figure><img src="/files/EhqiJdGDQbRk76PstnMv" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

#### **😀 Custom Emojis Sync**

Showcase your server's unique emotes and sticker culture.

* Setup: Toggle "Show Emojis" to display your custom emotes on your listing.
* Bulk Download Option: If enabled, you can optionally toggle "Allow Downloading Emojis." This lets visitors download your server's emojis in a `.zip` file.
* Why This Matters: High-quality emojis are a huge draw for Discord users. Showcasing yours (and optionally letting people download them) is a proven way to attract new members.

<figure><img src="/files/UYfQy9jiRzGgfux35hAt" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

\
**🎉 Discord Events Sync**

Enable us to display your Discord events on your listing page. This gives members a reason to join—they can see upcoming events before they even click invite!

Event Management You have full control over which events display. Show events from all public channels, or specifically hide events from:

* Blacklisted channels (e.g., staff meetings, private events)
* Cancelled/suspended events

How to manage:

* Toggle the "Allow Publishing Discord Events" switch.
* Blacklist specific channels if needed using the channel selector. Events from blacklisted channels won't appear on your listing.
* *(Note: The CommunityOne bot must be installed to manage event channels).*

Why This Matters Users specifically browsing our Events Discovery page can find your server based on activities like:

* Game nights 🎮
* Movie nights 🎬
* Tournaments 🏆
* Community events 🤝 Active event hosting = more visibility + more members!

### 🛡️ Safety Gating

Add a verification step before your Discord invite is shown to help filter suspicious visitors.

* How it works: We check joining users against historical ban data from other servers using our bot. This gets you only safe users without sacrificing too much user experience. You can track how many verifications have occurred directly on your dashboard.

### ⚙️ SEO (Search Engine Optimization)

Control how your server appears on Google and social media.

* Meta Title & Description: Write custom, search-friendly titles and descriptions.
* Live Preview: See exactly how your listing will look in Google search results in real-time as you type.

<figure><img src="/files/RSjOvtkKnIDspdyUvsfe" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### 👁️ Visibility Settings

#### Make Your Server Public (Default)

Your server appears in search results and browsing.

#### Hide from Listing (Private)

**Toggle:** Visibility Settings → Public Server

If disabled:

* ❌ Won't appear in search results
* ❌ Won't show in category browse
* ❌ Only visible via direct link
* ❌ Won't appear in events discovery

Use this if you want to keep your server invite-only or private.

### ❓ Common Questions

**Q: Can I change my server listing after setup?**\
A: Yes! Go to your dashboard anytime to edit any information.

**Q: How long until my announcement channel is verified?**\
A: Usually within 1 business day. You'll receive a notification when approved.

**Q: What if my server is private but I want to use listings?**\
A: Keep your server public in the listing settings, but restrict invites in Discord. New members see your listing before they need an invite code.

**Q: Can I hide specific events?**\
A: Yes! You can toggle individual events on/off or blacklist entire channels.

**Q: Will my analytics data be accurate?**\
A: Yes, if visibility is enabled. Data updates regularly. If you disable visibility, you'll see ranges instead.

**Q: I don't know what to write for my description or tags. Can you help?**\
A: Yes! Click the AI icon (✨) next to the Description or Tags fields. Our system will analyze your server's actual activity and generate an optimized description or suggest highly relevant tags to improve your search ranking.

**Q: How do Vanity Links work?**\
A: You can claim a custom, memorable URL for your server (e.g., `communityone.io/your-server-name`). The system checks availability in real-time. Once claimed, this is the best link to share on your social media profiles.

**Q: What is Safety Gating (Require Verification)?**\
A: If you enable Safety Gating, visitors must pass a quick verification check before the Discord invite link is revealed to them. Our bot cross-references the user against historical ban data from thousands of other servers, helping you keep trolls and bad actors out before they even join. You can track how many verifications have occurred directly on your dashboard.

**Q: If I enable "Show Emojis," do people steal them?**\
A: You have complete control. You can toggle "Show Emojis" to display them on your listing as a preview. If you want to use them as a lead magnet, you can separately toggle "Allow Downloading Emojis" which lets visitors download them in a bulk `.zip` file. If that second toggle is off, they can only look, not download.

**Q: What if I have private staff forums or events I don't want published?**\
A: You have granular control over all synced content. For Forums and Announcements, you explicitly select *which* channels are allowed to sync. For Events, you can select specific channels to *blacklist*, ensuring staff meetings or private events never appear on your public listing.

**Q: How long until my announcement channel is verified?**\
A: Usually within 1 business day. You'll receive a notification when approved.

**Q: What if my server is private but I want to use listings?**\
A: Keep your server "Public" in the visibility settings, but restrict your Discord settings or use the Safety Gating feature to verify users before they get an invite link.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://communityone.gitbook.io/communityone/feature-deepdive/server-listing.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
