🆕Twitter Integration Guide

Boost engagement by automatically rewarding members for interacting with your official tweets and community content.

You can now integrate Twitter directly with Hype Engine. This integration offers two powerful ways to engage your community: the Main Feed and the Community Feed.

Feature Overview

1. Main Feed Your members will be automatically alerted and pinged whenever you post an official tweet. Members earn points by retweeting or replying to these posts. We check for new tweets and update your feed every 10 minutes.

2. Community Feed We surface tweets that your members have written about you, filter out low-quality content, and broadcast the best posts to your Discord. Fellow members can earn points by engaging with these community tweets. We scan for and update community content every 4 hours.

Setup Instructions

To get started, navigate to your Dashboard ⇒ Hype Engine ⇒ Socials tab.

Step 1: Connect Your Twitter Account

This step establishes which account’s messages will be broadcast to the Main Feed and which handle we should "listen" to for community mentions.

  • Free Accounts: Connect up to 1 Twitter account.

  • Hype Engine Premium: Connect unlimited accounts.

Tip: Consider connecting the personal Twitter accounts of your core team members. We often find that community members engage more with human accounts than they do with official brand accounts.

Step 2: Set Up Your Main Feed

Configure how your official tweets appear in Discord:

  • Feed Channel: Select the Discord channel where you want your tweets announced. Most communities name this channel something like #socials or #twitter.

Alerts for Youtube and Twitch are coming soon!

  • Reward Actions: Currently, we support Follow, Reply, Retweet, Retweet w Comments as rewardable actions. (If you would like to see other actions supported, please reach out to us on our Discord). Once a user completes the action and clicks the "Check Reward" button, we will automatically grant them points.

  • Notify: Choose which roles to ping when a new tweet goes live. We recommend tagging @everyone for the Main Feed.

    • Premium Feature: You can create specific alert roles, such as @twitter-ping, to target specific users.

  • Expire After: Set the lifespan of a tweet reward (how long users have to claim points).

Step 3: Set Up Community Feed

The setup process is similar to the Main Feed, though this step is optional.

  • Channel Strategy: We see many communities use a separate channel called #community-content to broadcast these member tweets.

  • Notification Strategy: We recommend using @here for the Community Feed rather than @everyone.

  • Lifespan: Generally, the lifespan of a community tweet reward should be shorter than that of official tweets.

For Premium Users: We STRONGLY RECOMMEND using the /award-points command to give users extra bonus points if you really like their tweets. This provides specific feedback on what constitutes "good" content based on your standards. We have noticed that members are significantly more motivated to improve the quality of their content when they know a human is watching and rewarding their efforts.
