### With or without Hype Engine

In rare cases, servers turn the Hype Engine on and off for various marketing reasons. Here's a chart of messages per member when a community has Hype Engine turned on and off again.

### How do we compare against Mee6?

In this study, we collaborated with [Re](https://re.xyz/) to quantitatively answer a couple of questions, mainly around community impact by Mee6 vs Hype Engine.

We chose [Re Discord Community](https://discord.gg/reprotocol) not only because they are extremely well-managed but also because they had used Mee6 extensively as part of the community-building strategies. Over the past month, they've decided to actively include Hype Engine as part of the community initiative push. As a result, we can collect before and after data in the same group of members and see how they behave under different systems.

Mee6 closely tracks total message per user. In fact, mee6 gives you 15-25 points for every minute when you are chatting.&#x20;

<figure><img src="https://lh7-rt.googleusercontent.com/docsz/AD_4nXeQdyw9jLh52ddtOi2d4jx2litfI_7ZPWi-O4LsOUwC2EsG13HlysWy-jRmNKVNN80F7INLauWNhm4E1M4wI5HfyU3_cpY1t3IKWLdln_gZcJpwi4vxGwwgbkZPp6UdfVxPEYozzg?key=FNbS0k0hRxiqxHCFdbQOSxPa" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

However, the most active members don't necessarily chat everyday. Hype Engine does a much better job at tracking and developing members' habits.

Finally, a direct retention comparison based on the top 50 most active members (by Mee6 and Hype Engine). We track the respective groups over a 3-week period to see how many of them continue to be active each week.&#x20;

Data below shows that Hype Engine has a steeper initial drop off because some members decide that this is not for them. However, for those who have opted in intentionally, we see a much shallower dropoff in retention.&#x20;

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://communityone.gitbook.io/communityone/feature-deepdive/hype-engine/hype-engine-vs-mee6.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
